weddings in arkansas: edition I 2014: brittany & doug

June 4, 2014 by weddingsar

InspiredBy_Edition1_2014

Were you as enraptured as we were by the beautiful couple who graced the cover of our latest print issue of Weddings in Arkansas? If so, you’re in luck! Today we are offering you even more access to Brittany and Doug’s mountaintop ceremony with exclusive photos only featured here. Enjoy!

PhotoLove_BD324

The coupled loved the secluded feel of the Whitney Mountain Lodge, not to mention the incomparable view!

Unfortunately, the bride fractured her foot just three months before the wedding and had to closet her heels. Instead, she opted for a pair of Vans sneakers which reminded her of the Vans she wore the first time she met Doug!

The couple’s favorite part of the day? “Getting to see Doug after not being able to all day. He’s my best friend, and I was getting impatient! My favorite memory was sharing our vows with each other,” said the bride. The groom said, “Seeing Brittany finally walk down the aisle in her dress, and the entire ceremony.”

Brittany’s vision for the day as a “fuss-free, woodland fairytale” is captured perfectly in these unique cake toppers.

weddings in arkansas: southern inspired bouquets

January 30, 2013 by weddingsar

We recently shared our fall/winter issue’s fashion images here, but today’s post is all about the bouquets. These unique Southern bouquets were each inspired by a different natural Southern element: magnolia blooms, cotton, wheat, feathers and pinecones, to name a few. They started arriving one by one at the studio that morning and we were blown away by these talented floral designers and the bouquets they created for the photo shoot. We hope you enjoy these beauties!

Bouquet with composite handmade roses, magnolia leaves and cotton, tied with an assortment of ribbon. Tanarah Luxe Floral, Little Rock, (501) 372-1400, designsbytanarah.com

Elements native to Arkansas, such as cotton and rice, inspired the look of our Southern fashion feature. We wrapped a handful of Arkansas rice with a pretty ribbon to make a simple and southern bouquet.

Bouquet with wheat base accented by gnarly kiwi vine, dusty miller and scabiosa pods for texture, wrapped in French wired burlap ribbon. Tipton Hurst, Conway, Little Rock, North Little Rock, (800) 666-3333, tiptonhurst.com

TIpton Hurst bouquet

Bouquet featuring a cascade of green hanging amaranthus, magnolia and privet, with artichokes, cotton bolls and grey-blue succulents for texture and white roses and grey lambs ear leaves for added softness. Tipton Hurst, Conway, Little Rock, North Little Rock, (800) 666-3333, tiptonhurst.com

Bouquet with white hydrangea, stock and roses, accented with pinecones and wrapped in white lace. A Southern Tradition, Conway, (501) 336-0326, asoutherntradition.com

Bouquet with green hanging berries, millet, persimmon, blue thistle, wheat, wax flower and larkspur wrapped in a raffia bow. Fairytale Florals, North Little Rock, (501) 753-8393, fairytaleflorals.com

Hand-tied bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangeas and roses with sunflowers and scabiosa pods, highlighted with guinea feathers and tied in a chocolate burlap ribbon with natural burlap tile overlay. Cabbage Rose Florist, Little Rock, (501) 664-4042, cabbageroseflorist.com

Bouquet with Asiatic lilies, hydrangea, white roses, fresia and miniature calla lilies. Ye Olde Daisy Shoppe, Conway, (501) 327-7731, yeoldedaisy.net

Bouquet with Asiatic lilies, hydrangea, white roses, fresia and miniature calla lilies. Ye Olde Daisy Shoppe, Conway, (501) 327-7731, yeoldedaisy.net

Bouquet with fall leaves, persimmons, wheat, cotton, serria roses, and white dahlias in a structure made of sticks, hand-tied with lace and pearls. Fairytale Florals, North Little Rock, (501) 753-8393, fairytaleflorals.com

Cascading bouquet made from sunflowers, wheat and textural grasses, scabiosa pods and wool dread lock ribbon that spills to the floor. Tipton Hurst, Conway, Little Rock, North Little Rock, (800) 666-3333, tiptonhurst.com

Oh, these bouquets make us so happy!! You can read the full fashion and bouquet feature in our digital edition.

Photography by the oh-so-fabulous Nancy Nolan. Thanks again to the following: A Southern Tradition, Cabbage Rose, Fairytale Florals, Tanarah Luxe Floral, Tipton Hurst and Ye Olde Daisy for these amazing bouquets! They are all so fun to work with and their talent always inspires us.
