weddings in arkansas: southern inspired bouquets

January 30, 2013 by weddingsar

We recently shared our fall/winter issue’s fashion images here, but today’s post is all about the bouquets. These unique Southern bouquets were each inspired by a different natural Southern element: magnolia blooms, cotton, wheat, feathers and pinecones, to name a few. They started arriving one by one at the studio that morning and we were blown away by these talented floral designers and the bouquets they created for the photo shoot. We hope you enjoy these beauties!

Bouquet with composite handmade roses, magnolia leaves and cotton, tied with an assortment of ribbon. Tanarah Luxe Floral, Little Rock, (501) 372-1400, designsbytanarah.com

Elements native to Arkansas, such as cotton and rice, inspired the look of our Southern fashion feature. We wrapped a handful of Arkansas rice with a pretty ribbon to make a simple and southern bouquet.

Bouquet with wheat base accented by gnarly kiwi vine, dusty miller and scabiosa pods for texture, wrapped in French wired burlap ribbon. Tipton Hurst, Conway, Little Rock, North Little Rock, (800) 666-3333, tiptonhurst.com

Bouquet with white hydrangea, stock and roses, accented with pinecones and wrapped in white lace. A Southern Tradition, Conway, (501) 336-0326, asoutherntradition.com

Bouquet with green hanging berries, millet, persimmon, blue thistle, wheat, wax flower and larkspur wrapped in a raffia bow. Fairytale Florals, North Little Rock, (501) 753-8393, fairytaleflorals.com

Hand-tied bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangeas and roses with sunflowers and scabiosa pods, highlighted with guinea feathers and tied in a chocolate burlap ribbon with natural burlap tile overlay. Cabbage Rose Florist, Little Rock, (501) 664-4042, cabbageroseflorist.com

Bouquet with Asiatic lilies, hydrangea, white roses, fresia and miniature calla lilies. Ye Olde Daisy Shoppe, Conway, (501) 327-7731, yeoldedaisy.net

Real Wedding: Laura Sessoms & Ben Grimes

December 20, 2011 by weddingsar

Laura Sessoms & Ben Grimes were married at the Terry House in Little Rock. As a bridal stylist, Laura had insider insight when it came to planning her own wedding. This real wedding is full of unique and personal touches, and a nature-inspired theme based on Ben’s pet name for Laura, “bird.”  Take a look. You won’t be disappointed!! These beautiful images were taken by Punam Bean Photography.

The bride wore a custom dress by New York designer Janet Nelson Kumar that included a navy satin belt. The blue and green hues of hydrangeas, sedum and Dusty Miller leaves created a unique bouquet.

A variety of birdhouses topped each table, many found at flea markets scoured during road trips between the cities where the couple resided during their engagement.

Laura and her father used blue Ball jars, green river stones, votive candles and navy ribbon to create lanterns that lined the aisle.

With all the navy accents, Laura had multiple “something blues,” including her satin heels. A vintage handkerchief emblazoned with an Arkansas map wrapped the stems of her bouquet.

Each bridesmaid carried a different bouquet of a single type of blue or green flower-thistle, hydrangea and more- with miniature bird nests inset. Vintage handkerchiefs wrapped the stems and sported each bridesmaid’s monogram.

A custom-made pair of lovebirds ordered via Red Light Studio on Etsy was detailed to resemble the happy couple and adorned a monogrammed layer cake.
