A group of local vendors, led by photographer Amy Carper, navigates the waters of a European wedding to offer Arkansas brides the option to marry abroad
You probably recognize Amy Carper’s name from her work as a nationally renowned wedding and lifestyle photographer. The Arkansan has made a name for herself in the industry and is now offering her services on an international level—in Italy to be exact.
While vacationing in Canelli—in the Italian Province of Asti—at Agriturismo Acino d’Oro with her husband and children, an enticing opportunity presented itself to Carper. “The owners of the estate were interested in hosting weddings—specifically for Americans,” Carper says. Upon learning of her profession, they hit it off and began a relationship that would lead Carper—along with fellow Arkansans Tanarah Haynie of Tanarah Luxe Floral and photographer Stacy Kinzler—back to Italy a short time later to create a dreamy wedding scene.
“We really went back to work out the logistics for brides,” Carper says. She now knows how to troubleshoot for a wedding abroad and exactly what brides and grooms need—from how to transport the dress to arranging accommodations for guests— in order to say “I do” abroad.
To give engaged couples a vision of what they might expect when booking an Italian destination wedding with her, the group—she, Haynie, and Kinzler, who served as the model bride—created and photographed a fictional wedding. The images featured here give brides-to-be an idea of the picturesque setting that awaits. Ceremonies can take place on site at the Agriturismo Acino d’Oro villa or at a nearby interdenominational church. Dinner and a reception at the villa can follow. Carper notes that the estate, which features vineyards just below the terrace, is located in such a beautiful setting that the décor doesn’t have to be fussy. Instead, the day can be about family, friends, and the celebration of marriage in a picturesque area.
Carper envisions wedding guests arriving to a welcome party on their first day, enjoying an outing to nearby Milan or Turin on day two, taking part in rehearsal festivities on day three, and finally enjoying the wedding on the following day. “This is just a beautiful setting for someone who wants an intimate ceremony and reception,” she adds. Carper is currently looking into additional sites in Italy and other regions abroad.
