Alex + Jarrod
Little Rock // 11.5.22
Alex Hudson and Jarrod Johnson met not long before the Covid-19 pandemic hit Arkansas. “We both had very demanding jobs at the time, so quality time together was coveted,” Alex says. “When the pandemic hit and we were stuck together, we knew we could make it through anything.”
During their one-year engagement, Alex and Jarrod worked with a close friend, Justin Hoadley, to design a wedding that felt romantic, personal, and unique. “First and foremost, we envisioned our day full of friends and family,” Alex says. They chose an autumn date to take advantage of the beautiful fall foliage and cooler weather, and Curran Hall became their venue of choice because of its downtown Little Rock location and historic charm.
After Alex and Jarrod exchanged vows on the front steps of the property, they joined loved ones for cocktails and celebrations on the lawn. “One of my favorite memories of our day is looking out over the crowd and seeing all of the most important people in our life gathered in one place,” Alex says. A menu of brunch favorites, including sweet and savory waffles, salmon lox, and breakfast tacos (Jarrod’s favorite) were served before cutting into a cube-shaped wedding cake flavored with elderflower. Following dinner, the grooms and their guests danced the night away to Dial Up, a cover band specializing in all the ’90s hits. After a honeymoon in Paris and Ireland, Alex and Jarrod are now at home in Little Rock.
Clusters of Osage oranges, a wild fruit native to the Southern United States, complemented the table arrangements and are a subtle nod to memories from Alex’s childhood.

Big on Little Rock
Custom invitation suites featuring an envelope liner of a map of downtown Little Rock set the tone for Alex and Jarrod’s big day, and a marbled pattern reappeared in other paper elements, such as the bar menu.
Jarrod’s dad provided antique Turkish rugs to layer and serve as the dance floor. “Jarrod and I both have eclectic tastes and carried that element throughout the style of the wedding,” Alex says.
