When a local caterer came to photographer Jazmin Andrade about creating a wedding editorial inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, Jazmin was immediately drawn in. Karla Putts, owner of Carmelita Catering Co., led the planning and design of the shoot while also providing authentic Mexican dishes. “Karla really worked hard to incorporate things the Hispanic community would recognize, like la lotería, Mexican peanuts, Jarritos, and butterflies like the ones Frida Kahlo would use in her art,” Jazmin said. Read on to see photos of the beautiful end result and learn more details about the vendors who brought it to life.
“In Northwest Arkansas there’s a large Hispanic community, and we wanted to honor them by showing that a wedding can be beautiful with this theme.”
—Jazmin Andrade, photographer
Carmelita Catering Co. dished up bean sopes, empanadas, arroz con leche, horchata, and Mexican paletas for the shoot.
The bride wore a flower crown created by Samantha’s Garden in homage of artist Frida Kahlo.
Thanks for letting us share this gorgeous shoot, Karla and Jazmin! There’s so much talent in all these local vendors—Cheers to being inspired! xoxo
