Sloan + Dustin
Scott and North Little Rock // September 18, 2018
Sherwood sweethearts Sloane Lancaster and Dustin Keathley followed family traditions and added memories of loved ones to their wedding day for a meaningful, memorable celebration

“We chose All Souls Church in Scott for our ceremony because it is very special on my side of the family,” Sloane says. “I believe five generations of my family have gotten married there. I have known since I was a flower girl in my uncle’s wedding that I would get married there one day. My uncle served as our pastor to marry us, and he also married my parents.”

To add “something old” to her gown, a piece of Sloane’s mother’s wedding dress was sewn into her train. Additionally, the embellished belt worn with her dress was borrowed from her best friend (who also served as her matron of honor!).

Sloane attached a small picture frame with photos of her grandfather and great-grandmother to her bouquet with a ribbon to bring the memories of several of her loved ones to the day. “My grandfather passed in October the previous year, and my great-grandmother passed in November. They both made such a big impact in my and my husband’s lives that we wanted to incorporate their memory somehow,” Sloane says.

In keeping with tradition, Sloane and Dustin did not do a first look, opting instead to see each other for the first time on their wedding day on the walk down the aisle. “I will never, ever forget the look on my husband’s face when those doors opened and we made eye contact,” Sloane says. “His smile was so amazing and he teared up! My dad and I were walking down the aisle, and once we got to the altar, my dad turned to me and said, ‘He loves you so much.’ I about lost it then and there.”
