Since 1955 Mountain Harbor Resort has been offering guests from around the state—and the world—top-notch lodging and event venue space. Located just outside of Hot Springs, Mountain Harbor sits on the shores of Lake Ouachita, thus providing guests with a stunning backdrop of the Ouachita National Forest and mountains. Here, we sat down with owner and operator Bill Barnes to learn more about the property’s venues, accommodations, and amenities. | Sponsored Content

Weddings in Arkansas: Tell us a bit about how Mountain Harbor was started and how you came to be a premier wedding venue.
Bill Barnes: Over our 65 years in business, we have become a destination not only for family vacations and personal and corporate retreats, but also special events. Through the years, we began to see more and more people gravitate to the natural beauty of our area for weddings and special occasions. As our market grew, we listened to the wants and needs of the couples and developed our venues and amenities accordingly. Many of our couples want to get married outside amongst nature, but they also want a comfortable place for their guests to enjoy their special day. We provide this for them through our five beautiful venues and on-site accommodations.
WIA: What types of services and amenities do you offer brides and grooms?
BB: We have on-site catering available, but are also open to outside caterers being used, as well. In addition, we offer an on-site wedding coordinator to assist with set up and any other special details. Brides also have access to audiovisual equipment, linens, tables, chairs, and arches.

WIA: Can couples host both their wedding and reception at Mountain Harbor?
BB: Yes. Most of our couples choose to have both events on-site, and we have multiple venues, so couples are welcome to “flip” the space or move locations. Some of our locations are large enough to accommodate both without the need to flip a space, as well.
WIA: Tell us more about your venues. As the prevalence of micro weddings has increased many are looking for small spaces, while other brides want and need to accommodate larger groups.
BB: We have five venues, ranging from the very small and intimate outdoor pavilion at Micah’s Point to our East Cove Conference Center, which can hold about 120 people and East Cove Pavilion, which holds around 150. Micah’s Point has a beautiful western view overlooking Lake Ouachita and a very private, romantic feel. Many of our couples who are looking for a more intimate experience also choose to get married throughout property in and near the wooded areas. We try very hard to help each of our couples have the most customized and unique experience.

WIA: In talking with your brides and grooms, what are some of the reasons they chose and continue to recommend Mountain Harbor for wedding celebrations?
BB: We strive to provide each and every guest—not just couples—with our award-winning customer service, beautiful lodging accommodations, amazing amenities, and our hands-on attitude, all of which create a memorable experience for these couples. What’s more, Lake Ouachita is known for its crystal-clear waters and beautiful island scenery providing not only a picturesque backdrop, but also tons of exciting and fun things for everyone to enjoy! We even have a fabulous on-site spa for guests and bridal parties. Plus, we are conveniently located just 30 minutes from Hot Springs.
